Laura is a Senior Agricultural Officer for the Rural Payments and Inspection Division of the Scottish Government. She also farms alongside her family on their mixed Arable and beef enterprise in the Scottish Borders. 

Laura studied Agriculture at Newcastle University and since finishing her studies in 2013 has continued to build on her studies through travel including to the RASC conference in Singapore and to Australia to review their eating quality-based grading system.  She is actively involved within the rural community having been Chairperson of her local Young Farmers Club and Secretary of the District and is now a Director for the Border Union Show.
